Coach Philosophy

Coaching the youth in our community is an honor not a privilege My objective is to provide an environment which develops each player individually and as part of a team. Because soccer is a “players” sport, I firmly believe that we must teach/coach the kids to make their own decisions on the field. This begins with placing an emphasis on solid fundamentals/principles and dedication to the team. It’s never about any one player, it’s always about what the individual can contribute to the success of the team. It is critical that the players can control certain aspects of the game as they grow and develop as soccer players. Soccer is not a game of time outs and the coach should not have to shout out constant instruction to get results! While I love to win, the result of the game is not the most important outcome! Generally, the team will get what they deserve on game day if they have trained and prepared well. That said, the players will be encouraged to give their best effort every training session and game. My teams will always play “hard but fair” but never “win at all costs”. I emphasize teamwork and good sportsmanship at all times and also expect our parents to be supportive and positive on the sidelines. The players are expected to maintain good grades in school, and to be good citizens in our community. And last but not least, my aim is to create an atmosphere where the players will have fun, form lasting friendships and develop a true passion for the game of soccer!
